The Zoo's West Entry gate will be closed Monday-Friday except on weekends, free days, and special events.

Military Discounts
Discounts are available to active military service members and their families.
$2 off an adult ticket and $1 off a child's ticket. A valid Military ID must be shown.
Wildlife Carousel
- Children over 42” tall may ride alone.
- Each child under 42” tall must be accompanied by an adult.
- No food drinks or strollers are allowed on the Wildlife Carousel.
- Members token discounts not available at token machines. These discounted tokens must be purchases at Zoo Admissions.
- There are no refunds.

All groups that do not register three weeks in advance will have to pay the full admission rates. This includes free Houston schools*.
Special Admission for Schools
*With three weeks advance notice, free Zoo admission is available Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. to schools within the corporate limits of the City of Houston for students up to age nineteen. Day cares, pre-schools, head starts, home schools, and colleges are not eligible for the free school program. For more information, visit our

Group/School Payment
In order to receive the group discount, payment is due in full three weeks prior to program date. Tickets will be mailed upon receipt of payment. A $5 shipping and handling fee will be charged per order (all tickets in each order). Forms of payment include check and major credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). Houston Zoo membership cards are not permitted for group admission. Late arriving group members must pay the general admission rate.
Cancellations
Tickets are non-refundable. Unused tickets may be used for general admission up to three months after program date.
Special Access Tickets
With its lush tropical environment and more than 4500 animals, the Houston Zoo is the perfect place for a family to reconnect with itself and nature. The Houston Zoo and Channel 13 would like to help families struggling to provide recreational outings through our
ACCESS PROGRAM.
