METRORAIL

Houston metro

Avoid the parking stampede and take METRORail to the Houston Zoo – it’s quick, convenient and won’t take a bite out of your budget.

  • Save $2 off an adult Zoo admission and $1 off a child’s admission when you present your METRO Q Card or any METRO bus or METRORail ticket at the Zoo admission booth (one offer per person).
  • Catch METRORail at the Fannin South Park & Ride lot (1604 West Bellfort between Knight and Fannin), or park in a Downtown parking lot, and head to the METRORail station.
  • There are two METRORail stations that serve the Houston Zoo – Hermann Park/Rice U Station (at Fannin and Sunset) and the Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo Station (on Fannin between Cambridge and Ross Sterling) From there it's a short walk to the Zoo’s Medical Center Gate entrance on Cambridge Street.

If you must drive...

Driving directions from 59 or 45:
Take 59 or 45 to Highway 288 South. Exit N. MacGregor Way and turn right onto N. MacGregor Way. The road will fork once, stay to the right to get onto Cambridge St. Take a right at the light onto Hermann Park Dr (formerly Golf Course Drive). The Houston Zoo main entrance will be located on the left.

Driving directions from 610 South:
Take 610 South to Highway 288 North. Exit N. MacGregor Way and turn left onto N. MacGregor Way. The road will fork once, stay to the right to get onto Cambridge St. Take a right at the light onto Hermann Park Dr (formerly Golf Course Drive). The Houston Zoo main entrance will be located on the left.

Access to Hermann Park Drive:
Often, when the Park is near capacity, HPD will close access to Hermann Park Dr (formerly Golf Course Drive) at Cambridge St. If you're heading west on Cambridge, go straight through the intersection of Cambridge and Hermann Park Dr. (If you're approaching from the east, go past the Cambridge intersection, reverse direction and follow the "heading west" instructions.) Turn right onto Fannin. At the second light on Fannin, take a right onto Hermann Circle Drive. Continue on Hermann Circle Drive as it turns into Hermann Park Dr. The Zoo will be on your right.

Parking

Parking in Hermann Park and the Zoo's main lot on Hermann Park Drive is limited, so consider arriving early. Other parking options include using the Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza at 6400 Fannin. This facility does charge a parking fee. Special rates apply on the weekends.

Better yet, just take the convenient METRORail anywhere along its line, from downtown to near the old AstroWorld location.
