4-D Experience

While you’re at the Houston Zoo, be sure to check out the new 4-D Experience, located in The African Forest, next to the Herzstein Trading Post.

Just what is 4-D?

It starts with the stunning visuals of a 3-D movie, and then adds effects like scents, mists, bubbles, lights, and more to bring movies to life.

Now showing at the Zoo are a variety of short family-friendly films, like Dora & Diego’s 4-D Adventure, which is based on Nickelodeon’s hit animated children’s series.

Includes Zoo admission, 4D Experience movie and a Carousel ride. ($1.50 off regular price)

Adult Value Pass: $16.50

In Dino Island, The Land Civilization Forgot, you are part of a scientific team whose mission is to explore a newly formed island that has baffled environmentalists around the world. Upon arriving, you discover that the island is thriving with prehistoric plant life, dark caves, rivers of lava and dinosaurs! You will come eye to eye with T-Rex, Peteranodon, and a herd of Apatosaurs.

Planet Earth: From Pole to Pole 4-D Experience

Planet Earth is a ground breaking series from BBC Earth. It uses HD photography and unique, specially developed filming techniques to take you to places you have never seen before, to experience sights and sounds you may never experience again.

This episode looks at our planet as a whole and considers the key factors that have shaped its natural history such as the sun, the oceans and the rain. For more than three years, BBC cameras recorded in time-lapse the fantastic annual transformation created by floods across the world. In the oceans, Planet Earth slows down the leap of a great white shark as it captures a seal. One second of high-octane action is slowed down 40 times to reveal for the first time the power and technique of the ocean’s master predator.
